What do you call this color? Oxblood? Burgundy? Wine?
Well, I am just going to be real here. I refer to "the it" color for fall as maroon. Plain and simple, maroon. Maybe it's because my alma mater colors were maroon and gold. We never said, "Our school colors are oxblood and gold." It just sounds silly and a little creepy, but it seems to be the name of choice on other fashion blogs and in magazines.
I am just going to stick with the tried and true maroon.
Have you scooped up this color and added it to your closet yet? I have gotten a couple of new pieces, but since I am partial to maroon (ahem, Texas State) I already had a few items tucked away.
If this isn't your shade of choice, what color(s) are you drawn to this season?

super cute! you pull of any color and outfit! :) I'm kinda leaning towards a mustard yellow this fall...mustard yellow with some floral scarves, YES PLEASE!
This is beautiful, looks so wonderful and well put together girl.
It's a gorgeous color... whatever you want to call it! Those boots are just perfect and I love your rings!
so coordinated! Love the color combo. I think your right, it looks like maroonish is the official sponsor of fall 2012.

I think they're just calling it oxblood or wine. I love it though! This color with mustard is so fall 2012
What a pretty outfit! You look amazing!
xo, Heather
I've been calling it bordeaux to sound more trendy, but it really is maroon/burgundy. I've only scooped up a scarf so far, but I'm pretty sure I need one or two more items in this lovely color.
Love the outfit, that jacket is great and I can see you pairing it with a lot more this fall/winter!

I don't have a darn thing this color! Must remedy that!
I need something in that color! I love it!
LOVE!!! It is definitely maroon, but would you expect anything less from an Aggie :) Your booties are fabulous too & I MUST get that Love bracelet and fast!
I think it's wine. Oxblood is almost like a maroon :) looks cute!
SO cute!! I've been loving this color too, I just call it burgundy. That sounds so boring next to all the other ways..lol I'm also loving army green and mustard for the fall.
I recently did my nails that color for fall, does that count?
My school color was maroon too! (West Texas A&M) Go BUFFS!
I love this color for fall, but I've also been drawn towards dark hunter greens.

Gorgeous colors! Love your boots :)

My first thought was maroon. And then I was like... that's a terrible color name, it's more of a wine. But it's totally maroon.
Whatever anyone calls this color, I absolutely love it! Perfect outfit for Fall :)

I call it burgundy. I hate the way "oxblood" sounds too...it grosses me out! The striped dress is adorable, Shanna!

I love this! I'm going to call it garnet and gold! >>--,-> Seminoles!
I love "Bordeaux" - it's so French Quarter. And you look damn gorgeous.
Umm....this is SPOT ON. I'm in love with this outfit. I can't wait to shop every single piece! Seriously, this is why I follow you - love this look.

I love your commentary. Agreed. I'd be nervous and freaked out if I had to claim my school colors were oxblood and orange. Weird.
But I am sticking to wine this season. That sounds much more luxurious than oxblood!

It's maroon. Why are we inviting gross color names when a perfectly good name exists? And I have that F21 bracelet...and those boots.

I think oxblood sounds creepy too! You will never see me use it. I have just always called it burgundy. I think this is the biggest blogger debate out there :) But whatever it is it looks fabulous on you!. I love that dress...so cute!
You look beautiful Shanna, love this entire outfit! I personally call it burgundy. I think oxblood is such a weird term, all I can picture is that scene in Carrie when she gets blood dumped on her... sorry, that was gross. I just grossed myself out again.

The beautiful very simple and very elegant.
I don't know who came up with oxblood, but it is a little weird. You, however, look fantastic. Love this dress and blazer!

This color {whatever it may be called} suites you well! Love the "Love" bracelet :) and booties! xo
so cute, loving those stripes! I call it anything but "Ox Blood" yuck.

I am probably going to show my age but this color reminds me of the Aigner line that was popular like 20 years ago. Do you remember Aigner? Any hoot, you sure are a pretty ox.
Love the outfit! Definitely burgundy or maroon....which left me curious as to what the actual difference between the two is, so of course I Googled it! ha! Maroon in lighter and more on the red side, where burgundy is darker and has more of a purple undertone! :) There's your "fun fact" for the day! :)
cute outfit mama-cita! you look so pretty! i call it burgundy, but i am sure it has many names!
xx
Love this color, whatever its called! I actually have a post scheduled for Friday on oxblood - I hate that name! Maroon sounds much nicer :)
Who do you think came up with oxblood? That is so weird. I would like to call it "box wine."
Florida State fan here, so I call it garnet. ;) Maroon works though. I bought a maroon pencil skirt and really want to pick up some maroon skinnies. Love this outfit and all your accessories!
Oooh I love the dress and blazer together. Such a great way to wear "maroon!" I'm glad you're calling it maroon - "oxblood" seems kind of pretentious, honestly.
I just unpacked all of my fall clothes and unfortunately it seems like my main color is gray :( I think I'm going to try to add some bright colors this season - maybe maroon will be one of them!
I love your dress and that pretty maroon blazer! I love that color this season, and I mostly call it burgundy--oxblood sounds too weird to me!
I'm loving seeing how you style your booties! It gives me inspiration for mine :)

I've also been loving this color! I've been calling it burgundy! Anything but the ox name! Gross!

I'd say maroon but oxblood is way more dramatic. Great outfit, as always!
Definitely maroon. My sorority colors were maroon and gold and I always rather liked that combination. :)
my school colors are maroon and gold too! You are rocking this whole outfit. I am seriously obsessed and could not be more in love with you and your style. Can we switch closets please? I would gladly trade my stuff for yours. IN LOVE.
xxS
You look like a FL state fan or an ASU fan! I think they are both the maroon & gold colors. Anyhow - Love this look on you with your little booties.
haha Ox Blood is totally a creepy name! I like Garnet or Maroon way better, but what can you do :)

Looks like the perfect game day dress to me ;)
I am loving dark mustard this season! Sooo cute! :) You look great in Maroon!
I love your photo location, and of course the outfit :)
I think I would call this color burgundy (like Ron Burgundy! ha), and this whole outfit decidedly CUTE!
I got a sweater at the beginning of the summer... not brave enough to try it on my lips, but I would love to try it on my legs with some skinny jeans!

I call it maroon and I call it gorgeous on you!
I probably would go with your choice of 'maroon', or 'burgundy'. This is definitely a great color for fall, I just love its warmth and vibrancy! You look amazing in this dress and I love how you've paired it with a blazer and booties, so appropriate for this season!

i call it 'give me those shoes right now'!!! kthanksbye.
I think I'd call it maroon. Where do you take all your outfit pictures? Is it your house? It looks like such a cool place!
Ha! I love your realness here. You're right, we're not all walking around with machetes looking to kill out next meal, so why in the world the term oxblood has come to be used as a color is beyond me. And this look is great! You look like you're ready to hear out to a Florida State game (or Texas State in your case it seems).
YES. YOU ARE MY GIRL. I just had a post about it last week (titled Maroon, you moron) because IT'S NOT A NEW COLOR! My high school colors were maroon and white so its been a part of my life forevs. Love that more people are enjoying it though :)
I'm with you. It's all maroon to me. Cranberry if it has more of a pink tint to it. I am really attracted to cobalt and mustard this fall.
You look awesome, Shanna! I love maroon and gold together.
I definitely call this maroon, oxblood is just weird to me haha. Love your blazer and dress! Super gorgeous outfit and you look like a model in these pictures :) Love you!

Great dress! Love the background of your photos.
Stopping by from WIWW.
Shanna, I was LOL'ing through all of this! YES! "Oxblood", the new "Maroon". hahahaha. It does should cooler and fresher. Kinda like "chambray" vs "denim" ? :D
Either way, I am loving the color this season. It is rich!
I say let's end this "oxblood" trend and just stick to burgundy! Love this look.
I called it maroon as well. You look so pretty in that color and it goes so well with your grey little booties.
XO,
Zhanna
Oh, I COMPLETELY agree. The term "oxblood" has been driving me bananas! Just call it what it is, people! I haven't added it to my closet yet, but your outfit is certainly making me want to!
Your really pretty! Those colors look so pretty together too. I’m a new follower, follow me back?

I'm also all for calling it maroon. I think the trend of calling it oxblood was just to entice consumers into buying a trendy piece for fall.
No matter what you call the color, it is absolutely beautiful on you! I always alternate between all four names depending on how dark it is, haha. I have no clue which one is which anymore. :)
Yes!! Thank you! I literally just tweeted this the other day. It's freaking maroon! Haha. I just don't like the word oxblood. But the color is gorgeous on you!! You're glowing in it. Love the outfit. The short boots are fabulous with it!
i call it wine myself... and its one of my fave nail colors for fall, although i don't have much clothing this color.
you look gorgeous, as always!
Love that stripped dress, I always love a good find at tjmaxx or stores like it. i def. need some more of the color in my wardrobe!
