Weekend Round Up - Texas Style

Let me first start off by saying that I got to hang (meaning have some cocktails, get manicures, shop, chitty-chat and do some blogger bonding) with these ladies on Friday night. I know, pretty ah-mazing, right?

From L to R: Britt, Kristen, Jenni, Jenni's sis-in-law, Moi and Indiana

This week is HUGE in Austin. Why? Because a little something called SXSW is going down over the next several days in these parts. If you haven't heard, this is one of the BIGGEST music, film, interactive festival/conferences in the whole world. Yes, I said the WHOLE world. People seriously come from all over to attend this week long, plus a few days event.

A smidgen of SXSW events include fashion. You know that perked my ears. So, when I got wind that the Texas Style Council was hosting a few events around the city, I knew I had to make it a priority to attend one of them. So, here I (we) are at Friday night's event at Langford Market located downtown on 2nd Street. Ladies, this is one of the cutest boutiques around. Amazingly affordable. Stellar sales. And a staff that is super friendly. Go now.

It was so refreshing to catch up with these ladies. Yes, we did a lot of blog talk, but we also really got to know one another on a more personal level. Even though I have met them all before, I felt like this time was more intimate and laid back.  I can confidently say that I consider every one of these girls an "IRL" friend. If you have the opportunity to connect with other bloggers in your own city, I highly recommend it. It's not only a like-minded support system, but it truly is a way to make new friends and network within your own community.

FYI: TxSC will be holding a blogging conference this August. Make sure to like them on Facebook for all the updates. I got "wind" that they are in talks with a pretty "big" blogging duo about speaking during the event.

And the rest of the weekend consisted of this business...

1. Celebrating Pop's birthday (aka Ross's dad) at the camp house.

2. A family reunion in the "country". It was held at a church hall and I snuck into the empty, white, breathtaking church and sat in the pews all by my lonesome for a good twenty minutes. I prayed, I reflected and took in a very solemn moment. It's not every day that a person can walk into a church and have the house of the Lord all to themselves. That piece of time I had with Him is one that I will never forget.

3. Ross and I headed back to Austin and left the kiddos with the grand parents for a few days. Party time! Anyway, we stopped at Buc-ee's and found this gem! "Have a 'Willie' Nice Day". Classic. My closet is complete.

4. We then booked it to South Congress Ave for a late afternoon date. Every time we go, I always have to pop into Allen's Boots and because it's rodeo time around here, Momma may or may not have picked up a new pair of boots. Yee-haw!

5. Next stop, Doc's for a couple of Bloody Mary's. We sat outside and enjoyed the extra hour of sunlight. Another glorious day in the ATX.

6. Marquee at Doc's. Whaaaaaa? No way! Sad face. Life's truths can be brutal sometimes.

Well, that's my last three days in a nutshell.

It sure is quiet around here without my monkeys in tow.

I'm sure I'll figure out how to cope with the silence; possibly with a little Eli Young Band tonight at the Austin Rodeo. My fingers and toes are crossed that Ross and I can make it happen.

Big girl spring break has begun! Giddy up!

Oh, I almost forgot. I posted this picture on Instagram yesterday and already got a ton of feedback. Thank you to those who voted! To my friends who did not see it, I need your opinion. Which color palette do you like best? I am working on a new blog design with Miss Tiffany. Eeeeeek!
