Winning Weekend

This weekend was about winning. Just look how I smoked my oldest daughter in our water slide race. Yes, I am competitive, even with an eight-year-old. I was the champion, broken toe and all.

We spent Father's Day weekend at the "camp house" which is only four miles from Splashway in Sheridan, Texas. I have mentioned this water park before and it probably won't be the last. It's a place where my kids will make plenty of childhood memories. If you are in the Houston or even Austin area and have kids, I highly recommend loading up the car and heading there. The tickets are super reasonable, campsites are available, it's well staffed and they play the Cupid Shuffle. Water slides, waves pools, sunshine and line dancing; what else do you need during the summer?

After a full day at Splashway, we headed back to the camp house for some country living. Ross and I snuck away to the pond to do some quality husband/wife fishing, but that didn't last long...it never does. But, who could complain about this picture below? Daddy and daughter sitting on the pier with their fishing poles? Melt my heart.

My heart didn't stay soft for long. Remember the title of this post, "Winning Weekend" Well, when we all get together to fish, it becomes a slight major competition...even with kids involved. We talk smack about who's going to catch the first fish and if you don't catch one, well, you are a big loser. Don't judge my parenting tactics....really though, it's all in fun.(Go ahead and die at Landrys' mane in the picture below. God, I love that red headed Sparkle Monkey.)

Sunday was all about the dad's. It was such a blessing to be able to spend the day/weekend with my dad, Ross's dad and of course Ross for Father's Day. That doesn't roll around often. I love them all dearly and will never take for granted the time that we all get to spend together. It's a pretty cool package deal that my parents and Ross's parents are friends, live five miles from another and we get to spend times like these together.

Another win for the weekend was a style shoot in the ranch meadow. My sister-in-law came along to give Ross some photography/camera tips. I was a little nervous at first, you know, having someone else besides my kids and Ross watching me pose for blog pictures, but it was actually fun. Ross learned a few new camera tricks and she was able to capture some candid shots of Ross and I "in action". More of what I wore later this week.

Last, but definitely not least, my boys, the San Antonio Spurs, won game 5 last night. We are one game away from being the NBA champs. If you have been reading since last summer, you know how much passion I have for this team. It's almost obscene. Game 6 is Tuesday and if you follow me on any social media, get ready, because the pink, old school Spurs trucker hat is coming out to play. Danny Green, you are a machine and my new hero! Go Spurs Go!

What sorts of wins did you take home this weekend? Was it a new outfit? A dinner? A sporting event? Go ahead and brag!
