I just don't have enough time or words for the lady you are about to meet. Her name is Sheaffer and she is a Pinterestholic. Is that a word? Well, it is now. We met last year and come to find out, she went to high school with two of my best friends. Anyway, this girl blows my mind. The time she takes on each of her posts is unbelievable. She has been blogging less time than I have and has already had over ONE MILLION hits to her blog. CRAZY, right? She is that good! If you are looking for a fab sale, Pinterest style ideas or just love shopping, Sheaffer is your girl. Side note, she sends me more traffic than anyone. I am so happy to be in her good graces. You should get on them too. Just saying. This Texas firecracker fashionista is going places and so is her blog. I am beaming that she is here today. Yes, she writes ALOT, but it's worth the read. She knows her stuff....promise!!

Hello Because Shanna Said So Peeps! My name is Sheaffer and I blog over at Pinterest Told Me To. I am THRILLED to be over here and meeting all of you!
I "met" Shanna through blog land sometime last summer, and hers is one of the few blogs I check each and every day. Just like you, I love it! And just like Shanna, I'm a wife and mama trying to look cute when I walk out the door, but I'm not nearly as naturally stylish as Miss Shanna...so I'm using
Pinterest to help me do it!
Most of the time, over at my place, I take outfits that I've pinned on Pinterest, and I recreate them with things out of my own closet. (Basically, I let Pinterest boss me around and I like the results 99% of the time!)
Check out two of my favorite looks HERE (trouser jeans with a neutral colored blazer)
and HERE (white, coral, and mint).
Some of my other regular posts include:
*Bachelor recaps every week (Sean's season HERE and Des's season HERE).
*OBSESSIONS posts every Friday where I talk about clothes & other random things I am LOVING.
*Every so often I name MUST HAVE items.
Click HERE to see all 3 that have been named.
(Including some AMAZING wedges that you will DIE over!)
*My denim jacket (seen later in this post) was named a MUST HAVE HERE.
*My MUST HAVE runner-up was named HERE and they are hands down THE BEST JEANS EVER. And they are on sale for $38!
Also, click HERE for the Must Have Contest that I just hosted a couple of weeks ago.
You can see lots and lots of DARLING girls (my readers) in their jackets and their wedges!
SO FUN!
So, enough about Pinterest Told Me To...blah blah blah... :)
I was trying to figure out what to post about over here today, but after I received the next 2 e-mail questions, I knew exactly what I wanted to write about! I thought that my answers to them would be great for my readers because many of them already have the pieces I'm going to talk about today.
And I thought that the answers would also be great for those of you that are new to my blog because they will give you a nice introduction to my style and some of my favorite things!
Email #1:
Dear Sheaffer,
I'm new to your blog (only been reading it about 6 weeks now), and I love the looks you put together.
I don't have a lot of clothes right now (fresh out of college and I've been wearing a lot of sorority t-shirts! ha!) but I've decided to start building my closet up now that I'm teaching in an elementary school. What would you consider some key pieces that would be a good idea to add to my closet?
Help a sister
out!
What should I get?
Molly Brumbah
E-mail #2:
Dear Sheaffer,
First of all, I love your blog!
I have been reading religiously since the beginning, but I haven't bought anything because I've been on a weight loss journey for the last year. I have now lost a little over 60 pounds (yay me!), and I'm finally at the maintenance stage. which means I am now at the BUY NEW CLOTHES portion of this journey! Yipeeeeee!
So, the million $ question is, What should I buy?!?
So excited to let you boss me around!
Love,
Carrie King
Hi Molly! Hi Carrie!
What great questions!
Congrats Molly on graduating and Congrats Carrie on your amazing journey to being healthy!
After reading both of your e-mails (plus an e-mail from another reader asking me how to wear her new denim jacket in the fall), I got the idea to do a blog post about WARDROBE STAPLES!
A passage in Fashion for Dummies states the following:
There are some items that you absolutely need ready and waiting in
your closet. These make up the basis of your wardrobe; they’re the must
haves, no matter what your style — the wardrobe essentials. To be considered a wardrobe essential, an article of clothing has to have several important attributes:
*It must be versatile.
*It has to be of good, perhaps even exceptional, quality.
Very important for a garment that you’ll rely on again and again.
*It should be in a classic style.
You don’t want your wardrobe essentials to ever really go out of fashion.
*It must be a 10.
These garments, like
everything in your closet, should have all the qualities of a 10, and
because they form the basis of your stylish wardrobe, it’s okay to spend
a little more for these than you would other, less essential, items.
So, I looked in my closet with the intention of picking 3 things that I thought were items that met all of the above criteria.
I wanted to choose a clothing item, a pair of shoes, and an accessory.
After looking at my closet, the choices were simple!
All from Nordstrom. All excellent quality. All extremely versatile year round pieces.
And here's another look at them.
After choosing my 3 WARDROBE STAPLES,
I set out to prove that they really could be worn year round in lots and lots of different looks!
So, I played dress up!
Check out the 6 different looks I created with my 3 basic WARDROBE STAPLES!
All I did in each outfit was change out my shirt and my bottoms. Everything else was the same!
All of the above pics contain:
Then, I simply changed 2 other pieces in and out in each outfit to create 6 VERY different looks.
Look #1:
green V-neck and khaki shorts
Look #2:
orange tiered tank and white cut-offs (Love these cut-offs! Can be found HERE).
Look #3:
black and grey lace tank and green skinny jeans
(they are Kelly green...not sure why they look turquoise in this pic)
Look #4:
coral and khaki sweater and dark distressed jeans (BEST JEANS EVER found HERE)
Look #5:
white button up shirt and mustard skinny jeans
Look #6:
grey cowl neck sweater and khaki corduroys
WHEW! That's a lot of looks!
And for those over here at Because Shanna Said So (that aren't Pinterest Told Me To regulars), I thought I would let you play catch up and see all of my spring and summer looks with the jacket that have already been on the blog.
I also created a Pinterest inspiration collage for other denim jacket looks to prove it's a versatile and classic wardrobe essential.
It looks great with khaki pants, black jeans, and all colors of colored pants.
It looks great with plain ts, with striped ts, with button ups, and with scarves!
So, we have learned something today that I pretty much suspected all along...
THIS JACKET LOOKS GOOD WITH 98% of the stuff ALREADY IN YOUR CLOSET.
See? Wardrobe Staple!
And here is a Pinterest collage showing you how nude flats can be a key item in your wardrobe spanning ALL 4 SEASONS.
Once again, the versatility and the classic style makes THESE BABIES a WARDROBE STAPLE!
And of course the necklace (click HERE) would work year round.
It's the red one in all of the pics above, but I'm totally digging the mustard and grey one too!
Hope I answered your questions Molly and Carrie!
And I hope all of you Because Shanna Said So followers got a peak into Pinterest Told Me To world!
