Do you remember when I asked you guys a few short days ago whether or not I should get this dress on Instagram? You know, the one I ended up buying, wearing and stressed about a teensy-weensy too much. Well, friends, it's time for Round 2. I am on the hunt for another dress for another gala next month.
I know. I know. I should wear the one that I just purchased, but this event is different. It actually has a theme (I live for themes)...imagine a Bombay storyline, Hollywood glam, Henna body art, an actual scarf/bangle booth and possibly a jeweled head piece.
The words written across the invitation are, "An Evening in Bollywood." I haven't attended any sort of party that's centered around this jingle, so I was somewhat stumped on what sort of attire I should look for. Of course I turned to my two BFFs, Pinterest and Google. My imagination began to run wild with ideas and possibilities. This time I am not going to stress and just have fun with it.
I decided that I will be renting a dress from Rent the Runway. I am a little nervous about choosing something without trying it on in a dressing room, but they send over two sizes. I will be wishing on my upcoming Henna tattoo that the "chosen" one fits.
One last request (I am needy today), if you have attended a Bollywood event and have suggestions for accessories, please share. I have a decent idea and vague vision of what I want, but you guys are such great inspiration.
Thank you!! xoxo

All great options. I say the patterned one.

All of them are really pretty but I love the gold option because it reminds of the dress this gown Deepika Padukone wore to the 2014 FilmFare Awards:

Gahhhhhh! This is hard! I LOVE the whole top row (magenta, orange, gold) but also love the patterned one! I ultimately voted orange but can't wait to see which one you go with! What a fun party!!!

I would have worn the gold one but I thin the burgundy would look fabulous with your skin tone.
The gold one is by far my fav!! You will look gorgeous!

I personally love the magenta and orange...and I've used Rent the Runway a few times and loved it!
I voted for the red! But I also loved the magenta and gold. You'll look great in all of these!
voted magenta but love the patterned as well! good luck!
I just love the magenta option, but the patterned one is probably my second choice! Can't wait to see what you end up wearing!
I voted for orange, but I can really see you in the patterned option too.
I think the red would be wonderful, but not bollywood enough.
These are all stunning but the orange. It's so different and beautiful!
Oh wow, this is fun! Love the gold and the orange one. I would wear really decadent chandelier earrings and an armful of sparkly bracelets or gold bangles.
LOVE the magenta. How about you get that one and tell me how it is and then maybe I'll get that one for my event ;)
I haven't used RTR before but I've heard such great things about them!
That sounds like such a fun party! I've done Rent the Runway before and loved it! I got 2 sizes and both would have worked, but I went with the smaller size since it was shorter. As for accessories, you could totally do a bindi on your forehead, and chandelier earrings, AND tons of bangles. I don't think you can over accessorize for this!
I voted for the Magenta! I've used RTR a bunch of times. My advice would just be to read through all the reviews, especially if there's someone that has a similar body type as you to ensure the dress will fit. And have safety pins and fashion tape on hand just in case!

I love them all but the first one is my favorite!

The purple would be a great if you were to wear it again, but I think since you're doing RTR - the patterned one definitely works best for the theme!!
God I wish you lived closer, I have the perfect accessories! Very yellow gold and intricate is where it's at.
I love the very last dress on bottom.
You will have such a blast! I'm envious. xo
I could have voted for three different options if you would have let me! haha This sounds so fun, Shanna! I am dying to go to some super fancy event. I think it would be so fun!! Our company has a masquerade ball in October but we weren't able to make it this past year because we went back to our alma matter for homecoming. I really want to go this year! Renting a dress from Rent the Runway is a great idea. Can't wait to see what you pick!!

I am a big fan of RTR! I highly recommend basing your decision on girl's body shapes similar to yours in the picture section. Also if you try on the dress the day that you receive it (and it doesn't work), they will work really hard to find another one for you and overnight it! LOVE the Trina Turk...really gives off the Bollywood vibe.
P.S. I always have my dress arrive 2 days before the event, just in case it doesn't work :)

Voted! The patterned one is definitely perfect for a bollywood theme. I can't wait to see what you pick! I've never been to a bollywood event, but I'm envisioning lots of gold jewels.

I voted red!
For me it was a toss up between the orange, burgundy or patterned! I chose the burgundy in the end though. Can't wait to see what you end up with! i envision lots of gold bangles with perhaps one of those rings that connects to the bracelet. :)
This is so cool!!!
I would go with the magenta or the gold as you can find an awesome sari to wrap over your shoulder, and they show a lot of skin for accessories, they are always wearing a lot.
A head piece is a must, like this one http://www.pinterest.com/pin/222154194092784626/
Long earrings, and if you have any of those bracelets that tie to a ring, super (I think forever 21 has some), kind of like this

Good luck, and don't forget pictures, tons of them

100000% the burgandy one! It's SO different. Love this!!! You're going to have so much fun.
I've never attended a Bollywood event, there is a work one but I am in America when it's on so I can't go!
For accessories I would go for a lot of gold with green, red or pink.
Have a look at some Indian clothing sites for inspiration.
I voted for the red one, it's stunning!

You don't want to wear a sari? I use every possible excuse I can find to come up with appropriate occasions to wear my saris! :) Color-coordinated bangles are very appropriate accessories for a Bollywood themed event!
For accessories - JEWELRY JEWELRY JEWELRY!!! Bangles - lots of them! My husband is Indian and we had a wedding in India, so if you would like photos of what people wore for that, I'd be happy to share! If I had a website where the pics were up I'd point you there but they aren't online. :(
the magenta and patterned are both amazing!:)

Super fun...I hope you'll let us know what you choose! I placed my vote :-)
Kellie @ www.ie-style.com
I voted for the patterned one! Can't wait to see which one you choose!
The magenta, loving the neckline and would love to see you in colour. While I like the gold I think you would shine more in the bright. The patterned one is cute but quite bland on the top. With the magenta think of all the bangles earring and rings you could add.
Hmmm this decision is tough. But overall, I think the magenta will compliment your skin tone perfectly if you wore gold accessories with a a cat eye and pink lip.
I love the colors you chose, but the patterned one is to die for!
I know the patterned one is winning (and would look amazing on you), but I would totally pick the Gold or Burgundy! They are more eye catching to me ;)
All great choices but I voted for my fav. I think some fab statement earrings and lots of bracelets are your accessories for the night. Can't wait to see what you put together!!

My first instinct was the patterned dress, but up close it just looks too informal! I think the gold dress is more appropriate for the event!
