Sequin Simplicity

Friday night after the conference a few of us headed out for dinner and cocktails to a restaurant on Robertson Blvd. From what I have heard and read, this area is one of the hot spots in Los Angeles. It got me excited, but a little unsure of what to wear. I didn't want to look I was trying too hard, but I definitely wanted to glam it up with few simple pieces.

I posted a picture on Instagram of my roommates and I in front of the hotel before the evening's festivities. You can see a semi-full look of the outfit here. Many of you asked for details, so I recreated an almost identical style board for inspiration. My goal was to make my sequin pencil skirt the focus of the outfit and did so by keeping everything else simple and basic.

The actual skirt I wore is from Express. It is sold out online, but you may want to check one of their stores to see if it's still in stock. I would go down a size if you find one. However, I did find a few options that I wanted to share. Adding a sequin pencil skirt to your wardrobe, whether it's black or metallic hues, is a great staple and something that doesn't have to be saved for dressy occasions. You can create a more casual and playful look by knotting a simple graphic tee with a pair of bold flats for wedding/baby showers, a lunch date or Sunday brunch. I look forward to coming up with a few other ideas on how to style mine.
