Texas Tourist

This past weekend we headed to Ft. Worth for a the annual Texas Big Horn Society banquet. I have lived in Texas all of my life and this was my first visit to the Ft. Worth Stockyards. I am not sure what in the world took me so long, but I will definitely be back soon. It is several blocks of restaurants, shops, dance halls and a daily cattle drive in the street. The energy was contagious and I had so much fun being a tourist in my own state. I wore a Vince Camuto leather dress Saturday evening. Immediately following the event, I lost the heels and slipped my cowgirl boots back on for another night of two-stepping and live music.

Here is a recap in photos of the weekend. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Ft. Worth, I highly recommend spending a day and night at the Stockyards. You have to eat at Joe T's Mexican Cantina, see the cattle drive, catch a daily rodeo and dance the night away at the world's largest dance hall, Billy Bob's. It's true Texas cowboy culture. Two highlights, besides being in great company with Ross and our friends, we got the chance to hang out with Kevin Fowler after his show Friday and shake hands with Tuff Hedeman, a legendary bull rider. If you've watched the movie 8 Seconds about Lane Frost, then you probably know the greatness of this man. We also caught Bob Schneider's show Saturday night, another favorite of ours. I am exhausted and a little sleep deprived, but every second was worth the bags currently resting under my eyes.
