We made it back safe and sound from our trip to Tahoe and what a trip it was. Things started off a little rocky and stressful early Saturday morning. We almost missed our flight thanks to the park and ride lady. Our luggage got left in Houston and didn't arrive until midnight. The rental car company messed up our reservations. I was beginning to think our vacation was jinxed, but we didn't care or let any of the small hiccups get us down. WE WERE IN TAHOE!!!!!
I wore this outfit on our second day and the pictures were taken in front of our friend's home where we stayed. It was the most amazing winter wonderland that I have ever experienced. The house is tucked away in the woods and has the most spectacular view of the mountains and lake.

I wanted to share the first part of our trip. I will get to my skiing debacle on Monday. Let's just say I had a feeling that snow skis and I were not going to be good friends.
Ross and I visited Tahoe three years ago, but it was during the summer months. So, it was a totally different experience this time around. The drive from Reno into Tahoe is breathtaking and we had to stop at two of our favorite overlooks to show the kids and snap a few pictures.
We finally rolled up to our house waaaaaay later than expected, but
jumped right into the fun with our friends that we were vacationing
with. The guys popped open a celebratory IPA, the girls poured a
cocktail and the kids couldn't get enough sledding down the backyard
hill and making snow angels. It was magical.
Sunday morning we got up and headed to Emerald Bay. The views of the
lake and mountains are one of the best in Tahoe. It was freezing and we
couldn't feel our faces, but 100% worth it. If you plan on visiting Lake Tahoe, this spot it a must. Believe me, the pictures do not do it justice.
We spent the rest of the afternoon and the majority of our stay at Northstar. It was recommend by several friends because of the family friendly environment. After we got fitted for our rental equipment and completed our check in for ski school, we hit the ice. I haven't skated in YEARS, I am proud to say that I didn't fall or twist an ankle. The next day is another story, but like I said earlier, I will chat more about that next week.
I am still trying to thaw out and feel my fingers and toes again. I swear, I don't know how you girls live in frigid climates. My Texas blood was in shock and will pack heavier layers next time...especially thicker socks.
I can't wait to share the rest of our trip next week. We are happy to be back in Texas, but wish we had a few more days in the mountains. We will definitely be back.
P.S. The collages are photos from phones, point and shoots and our good camera. I know the color is all over the place and not the best quality, but I love them all equally. :)
P.P.S. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
